How to Check and Install Updates for Hackcat Desktop?

Learn about automatic checking, confirming installation, and connection verification after updates.

Update Checks Are Performed Within the Application

The desktop application checks for updates at startup and also periodically when running for extended periods. When a new version is found, it prompts whether to update; after your confirmation, it begins downloading and installing. The absence of a popup does not necessarily mean the update service was successfully accessed; it could also mean there is no new version or the check was affected by network issues. Please do not assume you are running the latest version solely based on whether a popup appears.

Complete Installation Following Update Prompts

Before confirming an update, check if any local tasks are running and save necessary results. After successful installation, the application will ask whether to restart now or later; choosing Restart Now will restart the application, while Later allows you to restart at a more convenient time. If the update installation fails, an error will be displayed; you should record the error and check your network, disk, and system messages. Do not assume the update is complete if it has failed.

Verify Existing Usage Paths After Updating

After restarting, reconfirm your account login, local connections, and environment selections. You can first run a small-scale read-only task to check if command results and file access are normal before resuming regular work. If the application cannot update properly, you can download a version matching your system and architecture from the official download page; the download page provides installation packages and does not require setting up a development toolchain for ordinary upgrades.
