Does 'Context Organization' in Long Tasks Affect Memory?

Retain key constraints and evidence after automatic organization.

Why Organize

Ongoing tasks accumulate messages and tool outputs. In supported Agent workflows, the system may organize earlier content to reduce the volume that needs processing in the next round, and the interface may also display the summary processing status.

The purpose of organizing is to help the task continue; it does not mean all old text is permanently sent as original text into every subsequent model round.

Which Information Should Be Reemphasized

If the task depends on precise versions, prohibited operation directories, authorization scopes, or delivery formats, these should be clearly restated before continuing. Summaries can retain main progress but are not suitable as the sole copy of original evidence.

A good handover note should specify the current environment, results obtained, operations not to be repeated, and upcoming checks. List unverified ideas separately to avoid the summary compressing guesses into facts, which could cause subsequent tasks to proceed in the wrong direction.

  1. Request a list of completed work and remaining work.
  2. Verify whether conclusions still correspond to the original files or outputs.
  3. Correct omissions and outdated conditions before starting the next phase.

How to Correct Task Deviations

Point out specific omissions without reposting the entire history. For example, state "Do not rerun verified parts, only check the remaining two errors, and use the previously saved result files." If the context is still insufficient, you can create a new task and provide an organized handover note. Creating a new task does not consume additional account quota; keep the products and evidence first before switching.
