Will Installing the Desktop App or Local Agent Automatically Provide All Security Tools?
Local operations depend on the existing tools on the target machine; it checks first before deciding whether to install.
Separation of Connection Program and Tool Environment
The Desktop app and Local Agent enable Hackcat to perform operations on the target machine, but this does not mean that all penetration testing, development, or browser tools are automatically installed on the host. Different computers, operating systems, and user sessions may have different sets of tools. A task that succeeds in the cloud or on another machine does not guarantee it will run with the same commands on the current local machine.
Check Tools and Paths First
Before starting a task, you can explicitly require the Agent to verify whether the needed tools exist, whether their versions are appropriate, and where the working directory is. For browser automation, it also depends locally on whether the corresponding browser and automation programs are installed; do not assume that a successful connection means a usable browser is available. When encountering 'command not found', first verify the selected machine and startup environment rather than repeatedly reconnecting the account.
Confirm Scope Before Installation
When additional tools need to be installed, first understand what will be installed, where it comes from, whether system permissions are required, and which directories will be affected before deciding whether to authorize. You can also switch to already installed alternative tools or other available environments with dependencies. Do not run the entire client as administrator just to eliminate a single command error. After installation, perform a small-scale verification before continuing the unfinished parts of the original task.
