What to Do If the Computer Disconnects or the Agent Cannot Connect?
Restore the desktop or CLI separately, then check the original task, selected environment, and execution errors.
Confirm Which Connection Was Lost
First, check the target computer's network and operational status, then verify the Agent environment selector. Opening the desktop window, accessing the webpage, and having the connection ready to execute are different conditions. If using the desktop connection from another computer, you need to open Hackcat on that computer, log in with the same account, and keep it running; the “Reconnect” option on the webpage may initially show these recovery instructions instead of remotely starting the application for you.
Restore Separately for Desktop and CLI
If the current desktop connection fails, you can use the retry or reconnect options provided on the page and wait until the status is ready. For CLI, check whether the running terminal has exited; go to Settings → Remote Control to copy the current command, restart it on the target machine, and wait until ready. Only consider resetting when you clearly encounter connection token rejection or expiration; resetting affects existing connections for that account and is not a general network fix.
After Restoration, Verify the Task Instead of Blindly Restarting
If the connection is normal but the task still cannot start, distinguish between quota, approval, existing runs, and target tool errors. When only the disconnection recovers, prioritize returning to the original task using reconnect, check existing execution results, then continue the unfinished parts. Troubleshooting information can include system type, desktop or CLI, occurrence time, and desensitized error messages; do not send complete connection commands, tokens, or private target content.
