How to Choose Between Ask and Agent?

Choose the mode based on whether actual tool operations are needed, and verify before sending.

First Determine What You Want

Ask is only available for free accounts on the current page and is suitable for asking questions, learning, and analyzing materials. Paid accounts use Agent; Agent can also answer conceptual questions and does not require executing tools every time. Only when actual operations are needed should you further check the available environment. First distinguish whether you want explanation or execution; the mode name itself does not mean all tools are ready.

Where to Switch

Only select when the mode menu is provided on the page. Paid accounts and some free desktop scenarios do not show the switch menu, so there is no need to look for an Ask button. Verify the current mode before sending; check computer connections or available environments only when tools are needed. If you only want to discuss plans, you can explicitly write "Explain or provide a plan first, do not execute yet."

  1. If the input area provides a mode menu, open it to check.
  2. Free accounts choose according to available options; paid accounts continue using Agent.
  3. Include allowed actions and expected results together in the message.

How to Determine If Execution Really Happened

Look at the tool logs, outputs, or files in the response, not just whether the text says "completed." If there is no corresponding evidence, you can ask "Which steps have been executed and which are just suggestions?" For tasks encountered for the first time, verify the process with small-scale tasks first, then gradually increase steps; the capabilities of local and cloud environments should also be based on what is actually shown in the current interface. Confirming the mode before sending can reduce misunderstandings about execution capabilities and response methods.
